My parents really enjoyed this place the first time they went so we wanted to try as a family! We were seated on the patio with our dog on a summer weeknight, which I highly recommend! The tables are a bit slanted because of the patio layout which was a bit inconvenient but it was a fun evening overall! I believe Andrea served us, and she was incredible! I absolutely loved the complimentary chips and salsa. All 3 salsas were flavorful with a good amount of spice. We also got mild guacamole and a chopped salad which were wonderfully fresh, tangy, and flavorful. We got classic chicken fajitas, for the main course and two orders were more than enough for the 3 of us as we had leftovers. You get sizzling meat, delicious rice and beans, sour cream, guac. The fajita meat had an authentic flavor similar to what I've had in Mexico. However the meat was a bit dry so I'll order something with more sauce next time. Would return!

This was our first time trying Mago's . We decided not to wait for a table and ate at the bar where we were very well attended by Edwin. He took his time explaining many details to us about the food and drinks he was very knowledgeable. We were also privileged to witness Ms. Bridgette working , this was a sight, this bartender did not pause or break her rhythm for over 45 minutes and once she did she came over to chat and check on us. I can't forget mention the guacamole my wife wanted it made with a little zest and her wishes were granted. Finally I have to say the food was a few levels above the typical Mexican food. Now the tequila selection was overwhelming and the staff was very patient and informative when we just could not decide on 2 shots. We will be back soon!!!

Ahhhh, Mago. I've been coming to this Mexican restaurant for years! Mago has been a downtown Arlington Heights staple for quite some time (it's been around ever since I was a kid). I've come here maybe around 10 times in my lifetime and each time was a good experience. The food here is pretty good, the drinks are superb, the restaurant is spacious, and the service is nice. What I love about Mago is their complimentary chips and salsa - they by far have the best chips & salsa around because it includes a trio of different salsas to choose from. I don't know the exact names of them but I love all the salsas so much! Their drinks for me are what does it; their cocktail menu is extensive and I adore their margaritas and frozen drinks. They are not for the weak! The food here to me is pretty mediocre. Sometimes I like it a lot and other times it's just okay. I don't recommend their salads as they're nothing too special or significant. The portions here could be a tad bigger, too, for the price. I also think beans & rice should be included in the taco dinners but they're $5 more. They do have very good apps - I especially like their guacamole and rollitos de pollo. Their fajitas are okay. It's a big and spacious restaurant that's split into two large rooms basically. It's connected to the Metropolis so foot traffic can get kind of busy if there's a play or if Arlington Ale House is open upstairs. I'd recommend coming here for drinks and apps with friends!

The wife and I went here with a friend who lives in AH who said this was one of her favorite restaurants. I pretty much agree with her. The food was good. I had three tacos: blackened Mahi mahi, breaded fish and chorizo tacos. Of those, the blackened Mahi mahi was best, salty and spicy. The wife had a quesadilla, which was fine. As you can see from my photos, the quesadilla here is more burrito like than traditional quesadilla, with cheese and vegetables wrapped into it. The guacamole was also delicious. This is one of those places where the staff makes guacamole table side, which is nice because you can set the spice level. We chose spicy, which it actually was. The drinks were good. The wife and friend had macchu pichus. I stuck to beer and mezcal, but the service was a bit slow. I would have ordered more drinks had the server been more attentive. Further, the number of birthdays and the amount of noise this creates is annoying. There were at least three birthdays while we were there which involved not only singing by the staff, but also maracas. That I could do without. However, I would go back here.

Great food and great staff! Cane here with a group of 6 before thanksgiving. Plenty of parking and in the heart of Arlington heights, it's the perfect spot to grab grub and hit the bars after. We started the evening with a round of margaritas and beer, our server was attentive and quick with drinks. We also started with the homemade guacamole ($12) which is good to share for a table of 5-6. I ordered the Mole Xico with chicken. Good! The mole was favorable, but not extremely spicy. Definitely filling, you could even split this entrée with a friend. We had vegans friends who said their dishes were excellent as well, the menu also provides vegetarian options which is a plus. Just a good Mexican dining spot in town and would recommend to others.
